Sonia Capriceru Props/ Set Design & Wardrobe Stylist
Inspired by her background in theatre and creative writing, Sonia's approach to any new project is first to tell a story.
From a young age, being a part of many hands behind the scenes of local theatre productions has shaped her work ethic and approach to any project. Namely "Get the show on the road" , always being ready to hit the ground running and "The show must go on" - always being able to problem solve quickly and efficiently as things come up in the course of a project. Practically, her upbringing in theatre has taught her the set and prop building skills that inform her work today.
Sonia's work consists primarily of installations and displays. She runs the Creative Department of local vintage favourite Front & Company, heading the team that produces elaborate window displays for the chain. Nothing too big or too weird, the desire to break a viewer out of their day-to-day - even for a minute. This drives her to challenge herself with each new installation.
She brings the same approach to her wardrobe and prop styling. Working with clients such as Suki's International, Gap- Athleta, Shopify, Clearly, Shaw, Loblaws, 604 Records, and Imperial Leather. Her work has been seen in editorials for magazines such as Bisous, Wedluxe, Zodiac, Leen, and OPALUS to name a few.
A big believer in collaboration, Sonia thrives being on set, building on those different perspectives and blending them together to produce outstanding work. This can do attitude has lead to work with such personalities as Annette Reilly, Jocelyn Panton, Ricky He, Trezzo Mahoro, and comedian Yumi Nagashima.
